Paige James is a recent graduate from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Her primary field of interest involves studying the atmospheres of exoplanets, or planets that orbit stars that are not our sun. She also enjoys backyard observing sessions with her personal telescope and using information about our own Solar System to learn more about other systems. She is currently working as a Data Scientist at Insightrix in Saskatoon, SK.

When not at work or with her telescope, Paige enjoys cross stitch, hanging out with her three cats and running her small business, Once Upon A Seam. She is excited about a future in Data Science and is passionate about educating youth to help them explore a variety of career paths in STEAM.

Hi! My name is Payton Gilbertson and I am a science explorer at the Saskatchewan Science Centre. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Creative Technologies at the University of Regina. I really enjoy animation, gaming, and learning how Disney rides are made!

I first got introduced to computer science in grade 6. I would finish my work quickly and be bored so my teacher showed me as Scratch. I started making animations and games and loved it! I also spent lots of time making stop motion movies at home. It wasn’t until grade 11 and 12 that I really got introduced to the magic that computer science can create. In my film class we watched a TedTalk by Danielle Feinberg who is a Lighting artist at Pixar Animation. She talked about her journey from computer science in University being one of the only girls in her program, to working on Pixar films like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and tons more. That video was my “ah-ha” moment and I haven’t looked back since!
